SAP SRM vs. SAP MM - what's the difference?
SAP SRM (Supplier Relationship Management) and SAP MM (Materials Management) are often confused but address different tasks. SAP MM is the procurement and inventory module inside SAP ERP or S/4HANA: it manages material masters, purchase orders, goods receipts and invoice verification - primarily for direct, materials-related purchasing.
SAP SRM was the separate layer above it for strategic and indirect procurement: self-service purchasing, catalog and punchout scenarios, sourcing events and supplier onboarding.
